Department Overview:

TD Auto Finance (TDAF) is a dynamic division within TD Business Banking. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing business with Automotive Banking Centres located in Toronto, Calgary and Montreal. 

The Dealer and Vehicle Owner Journey's mandate is to empower our customers, dealers, OEMs, and partners with the tools they need to support the vehicle buying and selling journey - anytime, anywhere.

Job Description:

Reporting to the VP Executive Product Owner, Dealer and Vehicle Owner Journey (DVO), the AVP Product Group Owner for Shopping and Buying, is a senior leader within TD Auto Finance (TDAF) and Canadian Business Banking function.

This role is responsible to ensure that a Product Group and its Pods are creating value for the organization through the delivery of customer-focused product increments. This entails aligning with other Product Owners and senior management to follow a product vision, creating and maintain a prioritized product backlog, managing delivery blockers, continuously assessing customer feedback, taking the pulse of the market and bringing in innovation and collaboration with stakeholders. The Product Group Owner should always be considering how to maximize value, assessing how the product or the delivery process can be continuously improved, contributes to a positive work environment and ensures that work embodies the Agile principles of transparency, collaboration and engagement.

This role is expected to make an impact, while ensuring all products are designed to maximize profitability, collaborating with key business partners while leading, coaching and developing a team of leaders that create and deliver distinguished products in the marketplace.

Job Requirements:

The general accountabilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:

CUSTOMER:
 

  • Partner with senior management to support the delivery of TDAF products
  • In alignment with the product vision, create and maintain a product backlog and continouously re-priortize user stories that will provide the most customer or end user value
  • Continuously align with senior management on the product delivery roadmap, defined Minimum Marketable Features or Minimum Viable Products and release cadence
  • Review performance analytics; recommend and campion strategies to enchance the customer or end user product experience
  • Participate in scrum or Kanban events (eg. Stand-ups, retrospectives), express new ideas for improving product value or delivery efficiency, sharing with leadership as appropriate
  • Proactively engage established business process partners to ensure customers or end users are prepared for application changes and establish Day 2 processes
  • Create a value-focused product backlog and continuously iterate, ensuring there are user stories scoped and prioritized
  • Provide user story design, development and completion oversight; accepting/rejecting user stories based on the agreed upon Definition of Done and Acceptance Criteria
  • Manage delivery initiatives and (depending on complexity) oversee multiple development teams backlogs
  • Proactively raise issues that impede the efficient delivery of customer-focused increments
  • Responsible for defect management and prioritization


SHAREHOLDER
 

  • Adhere, and ensure pods adhere, to enterprise frameworks and methodologies related to overall business management activities
  • Asses/ identify key issues and escalate to appropriate levels and relevant stakeholders and business management where required
  • Lead the submission and discussion on the Quarterly Business Review, with respect to Shopping and Buying
  • Identify, mitigate and report on risk issues per enterprise policy / guidance and ensure appropriate escalation processes are followed
  • Ensure business operations are in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements (eg. Financial controls, segregation of duties, transaction approvals and physical control of assets)
  • Lead relationships with business lines/ corporate and/or control functions to ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional/enterprise initiatives as an organizational or subject matter expert helping to identify risk/provide guidance for complex situations
  • Define the OKRs in partnership with numerous stakeholders across the organization
  • Protect the interests of the organization- identify and manage risks, and escalate non-stnadard, high risk transactions/activities as necessary
  • Manage oversigh process, risk-based identification and monitoring of related risks and regulatory compliance across the supported functions, while ensuring key controls and processes are effectively managed
  • Oversee or lead the facilitation and/or implementation of action/remediation plans to address performance / risk / governance issues
  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite

  • Oversee and lead a team of pod product owners for an area of significant risk, complexity or scope while growing talent, developing skills and capabilities to achieve career goals, support project /initiative success and achieve business results
  • provides coaching, mentorship and guidance to practitioners, business, executives within area of expertise
  • Manage is and overseas the overall discipline and strategy for their respective areas while aligning to the enterprise best practices
  • Integrates knowledge of the enterprises overarching strategy in leading program design, policy formulation or operating standards within one or more area of expertise
  • Provides coaching, mentorship and guidance to practitioners, business, executives with an area of expertise
  • Partner to leadership team on the management of the portfolio and financials, with deep industry, external/ internal, enterprise knowledge, recognizing and anticipating emerging trends and; Identifying operational efficiencies and opportunities with other business management/ enterprise areas
  • Facilitate key strategic discussions at senior levels of the organization and provide thought leadership to executive audience (backets output may include strategic road map and/or Deliverables/ frameworks/ short to long term goals etc)
  • Set operational team direction in collaborate with others to execute on common goals
  • Focus on longer range planning for functional area

Experience and/or Education:
 

  • Undergraduate degree and/or product certificate required
  • Graduate degree preferred
  • 15+ years relevant experience in Product Management
  • Scaled Agile framework or experiencer in operating in a scaled agile delivery considered an asset
  • Strong Commercial credit & risk experience, with previous product experience an asset
  • Proven ability in developing and deploying a vision and impact/influence others to align to that vision. Be known for providing creative thought leadership while also listening and engaging others to provide input in the shaping of that vision.
  • Strong people leader with demonstrated experience in leading high performing teams through change, and identifying and growing talent
  • Strategic thinker with deep analytical skills, with proven history of making an impact, developing and executing on strategies and delivering superior results in both the short and long term
  • Powerful communicator who engages colleagues, business partners, external stakeholders, and employees
  • Confident presentation and facilitation skills and strong interpersonal and leadership skills to facilitate working with senior management at all levels.
  • Demonstrated relationship building skills, with a superior ability to make things happen through the use of positive influence.
