Hourly Rate and Benefits: $36.43 (starting rate), $36.90 (6-month rate), $37.40 (1-year rate); along with a competitive benefits package complete with extended health and dental benefits, access to our Employee & Family Assistance Plan (EFAP), and enrollment in OMERS (Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System) pension plan.

About the Position
Are you passionate about keeping vehicles in top condition and ensuring smooth public transportation? Sarnia Transit is seeking a skilled and dedicated Licensed Mechanic to join our team. As a crucial member of our transit maintenance crew, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our public transit fleet. 
Advanced troubleshooting skills and a keen ability to inspect, repair, and certify fleet vehicles-whether addressing issues identified during inspections or operating complaints-are critical components of the role of a Licensed Mechanic. These tasks must be performed in compliance with Ministry of Transportation standards and completed in a timely manner.

QualificationsGrade 12 diploma or equivalent
Class G driver's licence required; Class D considered an asset
Truck & Coach Technician (310T) Licence
Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) certificate
Automotive Service Technician (310S) Licence considered an asset
Enrolled in the DriveON Inspection Technician Program considered an asset

Demonstrated Skills and Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to communicate and report diagnosis and repairs, including but not limited to work order entries
Knowledge and competency of the Highway Traffic Act, Employment Standards Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act
Reliable and cooperative with the ability to work scheduled shiftwork, including evenings and weekends, and availability to be on-call
Ability to work alone or with minimum supervision
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a team environment and interact tactfully with the citizens of Sarnia
