We are looking for a talented Product Systems Design Engineering Product Specialist (Hybrid), to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Accelera Business in Mississauga, Ont.

Job Summary:

This product focused position applies specialized knowledge of engineering principles and design practices to create optimized design concepts and mechanical design specifications considering application, cost, weight, performance, reliability, durability, manufacturing, assembly, and serviceability. This role effectively communicates the capability of a design concept to meet cross-functional requirements including assessment of alternative and competitive design concepts, and works effectively across cross-functional disciplines to develop corporate and customer requirements including those required to resolve product issues.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: 
 

  • Lead cross-functional negotiations to ensure comprehensive design reviews for PPT, VPI, and VPCR teams.
  • Drive design decision-making for component and subsystem concepts, optimizing designs to meet customer needs.
  • Execute critical design processes and utilize tools like iDFMEA, DVA, GD&T, CREO, and ANSYS Workbench for high-quality design decisions.
  • Provide independent leadership on smaller projects or complex components, ensuring accountability and clarity.
  • Implement and refine work processes and systems, contributing to both established and emerging technologies.
  • Coordinate and direct work among technicians and student employees, fostering knowledge transfer and team development.
  • Support and guide technical direction within project teams, enhancing proficiency in critical competency areas.
  • Act as a recognized specialist in your discipline, providing expertise and leadership within your immediate team.


Responsibilities

 

  • Mechanical Design Modeling and Analysis: Proficiency in creating CAD models to represent system design concepts and perform system-level analyses like Dimensional Variation Analysis and Finite Element Analysis.
  • Mechanical Design of Mechanical Systems: Deep understanding of mechanical systems to create innovative and robust design concepts that meet lifecycle and customer requirements.
  • Product Function Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis: Ability to use computational tools to predict and analyze product functions at various levels.
  • Product Platform Planning and Architecting: Skill in developing holistic product platforms, performing trade-off analysis, and maintaining traceable information for product development.
  • Product Problem Solving: Expertise in solving product issues by identifying root causes, implementing data-based solutions, and preventing recurrence.
  • System Requirements Engineering: Competence in translating stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements, tracking their status, and assessing the impact of changes.
  • Mechanical Design Specification: Ability to create detailed specifications that communicate design intent and comply with standards.
  • Product Configuration and Change Management: Proficiency in managing product artifacts, tracking changes, and maintaining product integrity throughout its lifecycle.


Education, Licenses, Certifications: 
College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required. 

Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles. 

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. 

Experience: 
Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making. Knowledge of MS Office and CREO tools is preferred.

Qualifications

 

  • Responsible for perform process engineering calculation and prepare process engineering deliverables for all electrolyzer products and customers.
