Job description

The Kenan Advantage Group Inc., (KAG), is North America's largest tank truck transporter and logistics provider, delivering energy commodities, specialty products, merchant gases, and food products across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. 

Reporting to the Director of Maintenance the Shop Manager is responsible for the daily Fleet Services function of our Brandon Shop. The successful applicant should possess a strong mechanical knowledge of highway tractors and trailers with a primary focus on fuel and special commodities equipment. This position is ideal for a proven leader looking to lead a dynamic team. We are looking for an outside the box mentality with strong knowledge of maintenance practices & shop operations that can lead our Brandon team on the best execution of the repair and maintenance of our fleet promoting reduced downtime while not compromising the safety or integrity of our fleet.

About the position: Temporary
 

  • Supervising and supporting all shop staff including heavy equipment technicians, wash bay attendants, tire technicians and the parts staff; ensuring the staffing levels are adequate to complete the assigned workload.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to all Brandon shop staff, including employee check in's.
  • Control and manage workflow in the shop.
  • Managing Technicians to ensure repair times are on schedule, making decisions on the priority of repairs and the quality of repairs. Controlling planned/scheduled repairs.
  • Planning, organizing, and supervising all aspects of maintenance including tires, washing, regular preventative maintenance and component rebuilding.
  • Being aware and responsible for ensuring Health and Safety standards are adhered to in order to maintain a safe and productive workplace. Including, maintenance and general up-keep of the facilities and applicable properties.
  • Responsible for communicating and coordinating any equipment needed in the shop with Operations.
  • Being innovative and open minded to new philosophies and ideas to improve any processes necessary to make the maintenance as effective and efficient as possible.
  • Participating in employee relations, such as dispute resolution, discipline, and communications in conjunction with the Director of Fleet Services and Human Resources.
  • Creating and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Working level Supervisor, on the floor support for Technicians


What you bring:
 

  • Licensed Heavy Equipment Technician, 310T, Truck and Transport Mechanic or equivalent experience.[CJ1]
  • Supervisory skills and experience required.
  • Strong passion for customer service with a well-developed problem solving and critical reasoning skills. Ability to take initiative and action quickly.
  • Comfortable in dealing with employee issues and concerns with respect and calmness.
  • Ability to be on-call at various times.
  • Well organized, detail oriented, enthusiastic, and confident with a roll up your sleeves attitude towards work.
  • Ability to exercise continuous sound judgment when prioritizing maintenance and repairs.
  • Capable of handling confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, requiring initiative and ambition, able to work independently.
  • A solid business presence complimented by personal drive, resourcefulness, maturity, integrity, honesty, and sound business judgment.
