About the Role

As a Heavy Equipment Technician (Equipment Mechanic) with ATCO Electric, you will be integral to the maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet, ensuring our operations run smoothly and safely. We are particularly interested in candidates with dual tickets in both Heavy Equipment and Automotive Technician. However, Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technicians (on and off road) are also encouraged to apply. 

This role is perfect for those who excel in a dynamic, safety-focused environment and enjoy problem-solving and troubleshooting.

What You'll Do:
 

  • Conduct maintenance and repairs on a variety of company vehicles and equipment, including trucks, hydraulic systems, and trailers.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools to effectively identify and resolve issues with electronic control systems.
  • Fabricate, repair, and modify truck decks and toolboxes as needed.
  • Keep the garage and its equipment organized and clean.
  • Manage vehicle and equipment upfitting tasks.
  • Perform welding tasks associated with mechanical repairs and modifications.
  • Provide remote and on-site troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Accurately document activities, such as completing work orders and managing inventory.
  • Mentor and assist other mechanics, apprentices, and garage helpers.


What You Bring:
 

  • Alberta Journeyperson Certificate in both Automotive Service Technician and Heavy Equipment Technician.
  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (on/off-road) on its own will also be considered.
  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain a valid Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) license.
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • A valid Class 1 or 3 driver's license with Q endorsement would be an asset.
  • Previous experience as a Heavy Duty and Automotive Mechanic
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and basic computer applications.
  • Ability to perform service calls and adapt to various outdoor conditions.
  • Willingness to travel and occasionally work out of town.
