Quality Technician

Tesla Toronto Automation seeks a detail-oriented professional to join the quality control team as a CMM Quality Technician. In addition to performing the setup, programming, inspection, and calibration of the coordinate measuring machine, you will also use precise measurement tools to ensure machined metal and plastic parts meet the drawing's specifications. Candidates must be able to read blueprints and interpret GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) symbols, so some technical training or professional experience is a must.

Responsibilities
 

• Operate CMM machine using existing programs and create new programs using Calypso and MCosmos software
• Perform visual and dimensional inspection using CMM, and precise measurement tools and equipment
• Perform first-part, in-process, and final inspections and record the inspection data for further analysis
• Troubleshoot problems with machinery and measurement programs
• Understand engineering drawings and analyze the measurements to ensure the accuracy of the readings
• Perform part layouts and capability studies to ensure parts meet dimensional requirements

Requirements
 

• Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
• Minimum 10 years of experience programming and operating CMMs and performing inspections in a machine shop environment
• Strong background programming and operating CMM
• Strong knowledge in metrology, engineering drawing reading, and GD&T interpretation skills
• Practical experience performing first-off, in-process and final inspections
• Experience using precise measurement tools and equipment, such as micrometers, bore gages, height gages, profile projectors, etc
