Job Description:

This position unloads packages from UPS vehicles, moves UPS vehicles on property and washes UPS vehicles. This position may include other work as directed.

Job Type: Part-Time - Permanent

Work Location: Barrie (474 Welham Road, L4M 4S7)

Workdays: Monday - Friday (Candidate needs to be available all 5 days of the week)

Shift Duration / Schedule: 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM (start times/finish times may vary with volume and operational changes.)

Pay rate: $17.30/hr.

APPLICANTS MUST BE ABLE TO WORK UP TO 25 HOURS PER WEEK

Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepares work zone with suitable equipment in accordance with current guidelines.
  • Assists with organizing specified set-up.
  • Unloads incoming packages manually or using a machine.
  • Checks the quantity and condition of delivery units.
  • Scans packages using the correct equipment.
  • Sorts packages according to the defined processes (UPS department, destination, etc.) then stores them in the areas provided according to categories.
  • Fills out documentation or records and validates information on the appropriate media.
  • Adhere to and follow company established safety rules and procedures.
  • Follow and execute company-established safe/defensive driving methods.
  • Repositions vehicles according to the established dock plan.
  • Cleans work environment during or after operations.
  • Reports any malfunctions to the supervisor.


Qualifications:

 

  • Meets local age and operations requirements to operate a vehicle
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Valid Ontario G2/G Driver's License
  • Clean Driver's Abstract showing:
  • 2 years' experience driving vehicles - Preferred

Expenses

 

  • Monthly union dues (approximately $40/month)
  • A union initiation fee of $50 (will be deducted after completing 90 working days with UPS)


Working Conditions

 

  • Exposed to changing/extreme temperatures while working in a warehouse environment and/or outdoors.
  • Working in loud environments.
