About the Role

The Assistant Production Manager will play a critical role in managing daily production activities, focusing particularly on coordinating with the materials team for manpower planning and working closely with the quality team to address non-conforming parts. This role also supports the Production Manager in overseeing production activities, managing resources, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and optimizing processes to meet production goals. #LI-Onsite

Your Responsibilities

 

  • Operational Support: Assist the Production Manager in planning, coordinating, and supervising production activities to ensure efficient workflow and meet production targets.
    • Ensure adherence to production schedules and manage any deviations effectively.
    • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and product quality.
  • Team Leadership: Assist the Production Manager in leading and motivate production staff, including setting goals, providing feedback, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
    • Foster a collaborative work environment and encourage effective communication between production, materials, and quality teams
  • Manpower Coordination: Assist the Production Manager in collaborating with the materials team to ensure optimal manpower allocation based on production needs and inventory levels.
    • Monitor and adjust manpower resources to match production schedules and demand, ensuring efficient utilization of labor.
    • Address any resource gaps or issues promptly to maintain smooth production flow.
  • Documentation: Support the Production Manager to Maintain accurate production records, including production schedules, quality reports, and safety logs.
    • Maintain accurate records related to material usage, manpower allocation, and quality issues.
    • Generate reports on production metrics, resource utilization, and quality performance for review by the Production Manager
  • Assist the Production Manager: working closely with the quality team to manage the disposition of non-conforming manufactured parts.
    • Facilitate the identification, segregation, and documentation of defective parts.
    • Implement corrective actions in collaboration with the quality team to prevent recurrence and improve overall product quality.
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure products meet quality standards and compliance requirements.
  • Assist the Production Manager in Identify and implement process improvements to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure high-quality output.
  • Responsible to ensure effective communication between all shifts and departments.
  • Initiate incident and accident investigation reports in a timely manner, when applicable
  • Actively participate in the Plant Physical Inventory and month end process
  • Provides coverage for Production Supervisor positions, when required
  • Co-Champion Lead on the MAFACT and MMSA Audits
  • Adheres to the IATF16949 Standard as required
  • Perform other duties as required by taking direction from the Production Manager


Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive manufacturing, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Your preferred qualifications

 

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years' of automotive experience an asset
  • Post-secondary education in manufacturing preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of computer software including but not limited to MRP, and Microsoft Office: Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to respond appropriately in crisis situations
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal, verbal and written
  • Flexibility to work daily and weekend overtime as required
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Proven attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, problem-solve and resolve conflicts
  • Ability to perform under tight time constraints in a fast-paced environment
