The Role
As a Production Group Leader the individual is responsible for leading a team of employees involved in manufacturing operations to safely build quality products to a schedule. Other responsibilities include reducing costs, eliminating waste, and improving safety practices. There will be multiple opportunities to learn and strengthen problem solving skills both technical and non-technical in nature. The role requires the ability to make timely decisions, manage through change, and handle risks and uncertainty. Together with other Group Leaders, you are part of a team supporting business objectives while maintaining production operations.
The Production Group Leader may to collaborate on innovation challenges, interact with industry leaders, attend professional trade events, and volunteer for community service activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise represented employees in a unionized environment
- Implement Health & Safety laws, and promote a safe work environment
- Ensure quality levels are maintained and improved every day
- Maintain and exceed efficiency levels through continuous improvement
- Effective use of personnel, material and equipment
- Align with terms of local and national labour agreements
- Maintain department records and complete various administrative tasks
- Achieve business plan objectives and targets
- Shift rotations and flexible to work weekends and overtime as required
Required Qualifications:
- In Pursuit of a Post Secondary Education with a Co-op component preferably (3rd or 4th year)
- Able to work 40 hours per week in Canada and for 8, 12, or 16-month term (2-4 consecutive semesters) starting January 2025
- Willing to work in a plant environment.
- Successful candidates will be required to attest to their vaccination status (or indicating that they do not wish to disclose), and any job offer will be conditional on the candidate providing that attestation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior manufacturing experience, knowledge of production environments, and automotive industry
- Previous supervisory or team leading experience

- Outstanding leadership, interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience
- High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, takes initiative/self-directed
- Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability and trust
- Consistently demonstrates innovative thinking that is focused on the customer
- Possess strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Fundamental digital literacy including understanding of MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
