Job description

Job Summary

This position is a fixed-term (1 year contract) responsible for the ongoing technical airworthiness, specification/configuration management and operational support of the Dash 8 and Embraer E2 Fleets. They will work closely with various internal and external stakeholders to develop, implement and support fleet activities. 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Track and Assess Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins and other OEM/CAA literature for fleet incorporation.
  • Communicate with OEMs on technical issues (operational / reliability etc)
  • Support Line and Heavy maintenance operation by providing expertise in specific engineering discipline (i.e. Avionics, Systems, Structures, Cabin)
  • Develop in-house preventative maintenance tasks based on reliability data.
  • Assist with the development of in-house and outsourced configuration projects (i.e. Cabin Layout)
  • Assist maintenance planning and technical records as SME for task execution assistance (i.e. downtime requirements, effectivity, parts requirements etc)
  • Assist the procurement team with part effectivities, alternatives, PMA reviews and other technical queries as they arise.
  • Participate with OEM and vendor work groups to ensure product improvements for issues affecting Porter's fleet.
  • Actively participate in Porter's Safety Management System (SMS) including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy

Qualifications

 

  • Post-Secondary education from an institution recognized in Canada is required
  • Graduates from an engineering discipline from a recognized university or those certified or eligible for certification by a Provincial Association as a professional engineer in Canada will be given priority.
  • Minimum 5 years of technical operations / engineering experience, including experience at an Airline is required
  • DHC-8-Q400 and / or Embraer E1 / E2 experience considered an asset
  • AMOS knowledge considered an asset.
  • Previous AEO/DAO experience considered an asset.
