The Work:

Junior Data Analyst - Pricing

Compensation range: $60,000-$77,000 per annum
Job Summary:
The Junior Data Analyst - Pricing is responsible for implementing pricing structures within the organization's systems and gaining a strong understanding of products, processes, and data relevant to pricing and analytics. This role plays a key part in product launches, data validation, and process improvement to support business goals.

Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Implement pricing models and rate cards in the company's quoting or pricing system.
  • Collaborate on product launches by reviewing and updating pricing-related documentation.
  • Conduct validation and testing of pricing systems through User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Analyze, reconcile, and maintain data for reporting purposes, recommending improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Maintain and update product or category-related guides as needed.
  • Develop knowledge of relevant industry trends and best practices.


Qualifications:
 

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Economics, Business, or related field.
  • Experience: Previous experience in programming or related areas is preferred, but motivated candidates with required education qualifications and minimal experience will also be considered.


Skills:
 

  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with data tools like SQL is an asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working under deadlines and pressure.


Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Create, update, maintain pricing formulas for each program, and recommend and implement process improvements.
  • Actively participate in claims liability analysis, including updating and maintaining analysis files.
  • Retrieve and reconcile data to be used for analysis or reporting.
  • Learn the data (including format) required for performing different types of analyses, and work with development to ensure data quality and automated data delivery.
  • Provide review of analysis done by the Actuary.
  • Prepare exhibits to convey pertinent information to SLT, other business units and our OEM partners.
  • Support Claims with ad-hoc analysis, and work with Claims to understand their reporting needs in order to recommend an automated solution.
  • Explore approaches to problem solving.
  • Build understanding of the actuarial function at our company, as well as others.
  • Build knowledge of the warranty and P&C insurance industries, and keep current, bringing any relevant news or information forward.

  • Work completed under strict deadlines


Education/Experience:
 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or related discipline
  • Passed 1 or more actuarial exams
  • Prior actuarial experience is preferred, but exceptional candidates with no experience will be considered.
