The Opportunity

Leavitt Machinery is looking for a collaborative and confident Charge Hand (Heavy Equipment or Automotive Shop Technician) to join our team in Langley, BC. As the Charge Hand you will be delegating tasks and leading Technicians on important equipment repair orders for our loyal customers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

As the Charge Hand your key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Perform work as assigned by the Dispatcher, either directly, or through delegation to the Technicians working in the shop
  • Provide support to the Shop Coordinator/Dispatcher when communicating technical repairs to customers
  • Work closely with the Lead hand, Dispatcher, Service Manager and/or Tech Support
  • Proactively identify maintenance and repair opportunities on equipment
  • Responsible for quality control of all ongoing and completed jobs
  • Ensure Leavitt safety initiatives and best practices are upheld
  • Communicate effectively with the Parts department on the status of parts for ongoing jobs


Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:

 

  • High-school Diploma
  • Provincial Heavy Duty or Automotive Journeyperson's ticket is required (or proven experience in a related industry)
  • 3-5 years' experience as a ticketed Technician
  • Previous Lead Hand or leadership experience is considered a strong asset
  • Previous aerial platform and lift truck experience is considered an asset
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Strong computer skills and trouble shooting skills
