Job description
The Jitney Repair / Lift Truck Mechanic 310S (Hourly) inspects, diagnoses and repairs lift truck equipment. He/she primarily services lift trucks that powered by electric motors but may service internal-combustion-engine-powered lift trucks as well.
Duties include, but are not limited to :
- Inspect, diagnose, and service lift truck systems, including: electrical, steering, braking, hydraulic, frames, transmissions, drive axles, suspension, and wheels and lifting systems pertaining to powered lift truck equipment
- Diagnose and service drive units and control systems in electric vehicles
- Troubleshoot and repair powered lift truck internal combustion engines
- Utilize safety techniques for lifting, rigging, blocking, and lockout devices
- Service floor scrubbers, carts, and other powered industrial vehicles; as well as related equipment
- Operate hand, power, specialized, precision, and electronic service tools to make required repairs
- Prepares time estimates and work plans as required
- Conduct various preventative maintenance activities on related equipment and/or facilities
The Jitney Repair / Lift Truck Mechanic is part of a seniority group that includes other trades with responsibilities from the 310S Automotive Service Technician trade.
Internal movement to other positions requiring this trade may occur in accordance with the collective agreement.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications :
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
- Certificate of Apprenticeship as an Automotive Service Technician (310S)
- Certificate of Qualification as an Automotive Service Technician (310S)
- Minimum EIGHT (8) years of related experience working in the trade
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to maintain tact and professionalism at all times
- Proficiency with computers, including the use of Microsoft Office
- Available to work all shifts
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
