Heavy Equipment Technician / Mechanic
LOCATION: Calgary, AB
WORK ENVIRONMENT: In-Shop
TYPE: Full-Time (Monday-Friday)
EQUIPMENT SERVICED: Hydrovacs, vac trucks, refuse equipment, street sweepers
*Infrastructure maintenance equipment
SIGNING BONUS:
- Licensed - Heavy Equipment Technician = $2,500.00
- Apprentice - Heavy Equipment Technician = $1,000.00
- All other licensed mechanics = $1,800.00
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed Heavy Equipment Technician preferred
- 2+ years' experience as a licensed mechanic or 3+ years' working experience
- Valid Driver's License with Clean Abstract
- Experienced with hydraulic and/or electrical work
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform trouble shooting, mechanical repairs and PDIs (pre-delivery inspections) on a variety of heavy equipment represented by Joe Johnson Equipment
- Conduct repairs in a timely and effective manner, communicating effectively with the Service Writer and Parts team to ensure optimal efficiency
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance tasks and inspections
- Communicate with Lead Hand and/or Service Manager regarding job progress and job status changes
- Maintain organized and safe work area and shop tools

SAFETY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Employees must:
- Work in compliance with the appropriate safety legislation/regulations/safety policies
- Report any known workplace hazard or safety violations
- Cooperate with their workplace's Safety Committee or health and safety representative
- Use any safety equipment, protective devices or clothing required
- Not remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the Company or by the regulations.
