We are looking for a talented Field service diesel technician to join our team on an open pit mining site in Northern Ontario.

Cummins is on a hunt for a safety conscious self starter, well organized technician with the ability to work independently at an open pit mine site. The ideal candidate will be required to support all aspects of the specific mine site equipment maintenance such as, OEM repairs and services. This position is 7 days on / 7 days off - day shift only.

Daily Duties include maintaining and repairing open pit mining equipment such as haul trucks, front end loaders, hydraulic face shovels, and other Cummins powered equipment.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
 

  • Technical specialist and regular customer support contact to diagnose and complete less complex repairs to Cummins products at a single customer's site.
  • Engages customers in a courteous and professional manner. Anticipates and ensures prompt and efficient attention to customer needs.
  • Applies the use of specialized tools and follows documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete less complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools.
  • Coaches on preventative maintenance activities and basic repairs completed by customer employees.
  • Escalates unresolved issues to more experienced On Site Technicians and/or Supervisor.
  • Completes required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens.
  • Completes training in line with skill and business requirements.
  • Maintains work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to site management and to their supervisor.


Responsibilities

In order to be successful in this role you will need :

Education, Licenses, Certifications: 
 

  • Apprentice Trained Power Generation and/or Engine Technician (Preferred)
  • Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
  • Current relevant electrical certification (optional)
  • Locally valid driving permit.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. 

    Experience: 
  • Minimal level of workshop related experience required.
  • Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with Cummins products
  • High Voltage/ Low Voltage experience (optional)


 

  • Safety conscious self starter, well organized technician with the ability to work independently at an Open pit mine site - 7 days on / 7 Days off
  • Current and relevant Cummins High Horsepower engine diagnostics and repair experience would be an asset
  • Computer/web based diagnostic skills and abilities are essential
  • Online and in-class technical & safety training provided
  • Key attributes the successful candidate will posses: safety conscious, trustworthy, dependable, reliable, detail oriented, and customer service focused
  • The ideal candidate will be required to support all aspects of the specific mine site equipment maintenance such as, OEM repairs and services
  • Valid drivers license required - driver abstract
  • Transportation provided from to/from the mine site and the Winnipeg branch
  • Flight allowance - available as applicable
  • Meal allowance - available as applicable
  • On-Site tools provided - including rugged laptop
  • Annual tool and boot allowances available
  • Mine site - on shift accommodations provided
