Job description

The Major Account Manager will spearhead the development of new accounts and business growth in the Food sector. You will be focused on delivering compelling value propositions to prospects, while learning about their operations. The Major Account Manager plays a vital role in providing customers the opportunity to leverage Toromont's technology and solutions to increase their efficiency and growth. In this role, you will receive training, coaching, and mentorship and marketing support that will help you in achieving your goals. You will be directly responsible for an array of results that, one year down the road, will give you a sense of pride on what you have achieved. In a typical day, YOU will:

 

  • Report to the Business Manager, Emerging Markets and Solutions.
  • Qualify the list of key prospects identified for this role through research and personal knowledge
  • Learn, align and promote our industry leading equipment, product support options and solutions
  • Generate leads by connecting with key contacts at target accounts by leveraging online tools and referrals from contacts
  • Establish Strategic Account Plans for each of the large accounts
  • Generate new opportunities and work closely with the customer on the opportunities to lead them to the various stages of the pipeline to close the deals
  • Maintain and upkeep a 10X sales pipeline
  • Structure agreements/tenders, establish new client proposals/agreements ensuring mutually valuable partnerships aligned to client needs assessment / specifications and financing options
  • Prepare and conduct professional, customized presentations and events aligned to client needs that demonstrate the visible value/impact of Toromont's products and solutions
  • Understand and demonstrate safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviours at all times, in support of Toromont's Health and Safety Policies, Programs and initiatives • 60% - 70% travel requirement


Must-haves for this role:

 

  • University or College Degree in Engineering or Business or Marketing
    You have 3 - 5 years of relevant key account or business development experience selling to the manufacturing and/or automotive industry
  • Passionate about the industry, the Customer's success, and the solutions offered by Toromont
  • Pou are aware of how strategies and tactics work in the Retail Industry marketplace and is knowledgeable in current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology and information that affects the business and able to think on your feet
  • You are able to pick up on technical things quickly and able to learn new skills and knowledge
  • You have strong quantitative skills
  • You are dedicated to meet customer expectations and requirements
  • You can run a well-organized deal process and sales pipeline
  • You can bring deals from lead phase to a successful close
  • You can negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups
  • You can be direct and forceful as well as diplomatic
  • You enjoy the challenge of unfamiliar tasks and analyzes both successes and failures for clues to improvement
  • You look beyond the obvious and doesn't stop at the first answers
  • You are able to apply logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions
