Engineering Specialist - Quality - Assembly

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for leading QOS initiatives within the production department.

• Review with production Team Leaders and Process Coaches quality issues and be the point of contact with other departments such as Assembly, Quality and MP&L.

• Coordinate quality concerns containment actions (ie. special checks) to eliminate any impact to customer.

• Implement permanent corrective actions to resolve quality issues using 8D tool, 6 panel, etc.

• Keep traceability records regarding quality actions for future reference.

• Manage quality documentation on FTT, 8Ds, Scrap, Defects to Assembly, etc.

• Prepare standard reports for Quality reviews within the plant and with other areas (eg. PIC, Subteam, PRT, PCT).

• Participate in Quality and Contamination audits.

• Provide oversite to departmental MQOS scorecard.

• Review rejected parts for quality integrity and decide next steps.

• Lead cross functional team initiatives in quality to achieve no faults forward / zero defects.

• Coordinate with Site MBB departmental Green and Black Belt projects.

• Work with QLSCM, Q-Net, FIS, POSMON and other required systems.

• Establish critical characteristics for gauging and measuring data collection methods (DCP Process).

• Document and control error proofing checks, internal checks, and additional containments (QCM Process).

• Apply engineering principles & analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products.

• Manage and direct statistical process control activities (QDAS).

• Knowledge of and ability to execute measurement systems analysis & variable data analysis (MSA / GR&R).

• Support robust use of MTC process.

• Participate in interplant benchmarking exercises (as needed).

• Participate in CPMT discussions - Advise on required ICA/PCA actions and follow Risk Assessment/ Alert processes for non-conforming production.

• Complete daily verification of all One Machining CNCs gauge reports and required - ensure all annotations are acceptable. 

• Coach salary and hourly team on all aspects of QOS.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor Degree. Engineering Degree preferred. (Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required).

• Six Sigma Green Belt certified.

Experience:

• Experience in manufacturing engineering and production supervision. 

• Demonstrated experience in accomplishing tasks and objectives.

• Strong technical writing and communication skills.

• Proven problem-solving ability.

• Microsoft Office Knowledge (Word/Excel/Outlook).
