Job description

The Program Manager with a background in automotive manufacturing and precision machining will lead complex projects from concept to production. This role is responsible for managing all elements of multiple programs, ensuring seamless coordination, driving innovation and continuous improvements, tracking budgets, adhering to timing commitments, and delivering customer satisfaction. Through utilization of their expertise will drive cross-functional team success, manage supplier relationships, and oversee technical specifications and equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of the Program Manager are detailed below, but not limited to the following:

 

  • Manage and oversee multiple, large-scale programs from inception through delivery, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Liaise between the Customer and Almag to ensure effective communication and successful project launch.
  • Optimize program resource allocation to meet project timelines and objectives.
  • Guide and coordinate cross-functional project teams from concept to production, ensuring all program milestones are met.
  • Identify, analyze, and mitigate risks; proactively manage issues to minimize project impacts on timelines and budget.
  • Provide clear and consistent communication to key players at all levels, delivering updates on program status, challenges, and progress.
  • Leverage knowledge from the automotive sector to introduce innovative solutions, improve processes, and enhance product quality and project efficiency.
  • Ensure program outcomes meet or exceed customer expectations for quality, reliability, and satisfaction.
  • Ensure changes and updates in program status are communicated effectively.
  • Track program elements to meet budget and timing targets; analyze costs to identify waste reduction opportunities.
  • Direct APQP team activities to maintain high-quality program outcomes, enforcing Six Sigma, D/PFMEA, and PPAP principles.
  • Lead component specifications, sourcing, and supplier development, as well as machining operation cycle time estimations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts informed by internal and external performance metrics.
  • Engage in design and productivity improvement initiatives, manage modifications, and update relevant documents.
  • Support project quotations and technical proposals, exploring new business and process opportunities
  • Analyze and prepare production schedules, monitor project progress, and evaluate current systems to meet operational demands.
  • Other relevant responsibilities and projects as assigned.


Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience 
 

  • Post-secondary education, Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years in program management within the automotive sector, with experience leading complex, cross-functional programs.
  • Experience with the use of statistical analysis software and computer-assisted design, manufacturing and machining.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale programs, with strong skills in budgeting, scheduling, and change management.
  • Computer literate in SolidWorks, MS Office and MS Project asset
  • Six Sigma experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in launching aluminum and metal programs is a valuable asset.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and blueprint reading, and understanding of CMM reports.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills using automotive methodologies like APQP, PPAP, or FMEA to drive quality outcomes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to inspire and influence teams .
  • Comfortable working and leading technical teams and capable of understanding engineering principles.
  • Ability to adapt automotive experience to a non-automotive setting, using insights to drive innovation and efficiency across programs.
