$100,000-$110,000 per year
Position Summary:
This position requires an individual with proven leadership skills and the ability to ensure financial and technical performance of assets through solid leadership to the equipment team in Ottawa, Ontario. The successful candidate must conduct themselves in a professional manner and have strong interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
- Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Work closely with all departmental teams in a positive and supportive manner, placing the highest value on respect for collaborative, contribution and the unique expertise that each department's staff bring to the combined group.
- Ensure equipment operates cost effectively while maintaining the highest safety standards.
- Monitoring downtime daily and intervene to keep to a minimum.
- Provide leadership to the equipment team, conduct toolbox talks and safety meetings weekly, and train and mentor staff to develop skills as required.
- Enforce all company policies and procedures on a consistent and fair basis.
- Assist in the annual budgeting and monthly cost analysis providing input for financial reporting.
- Provide recommendations on asset life expectancies, replacement schedules and new asset specifications.
- Ensure scheduled preventative maintenance and associated paperwork meet DOT requirements and Miller Waste criteria.
- Review and assist with equipment related purchases and supervise building related repairs including HVAC system, doors, sprinkler systems, docks, plumbing, etc.
- Assist in diagnosing mechanical problems and provide direction on repairs to be completed.
- Ensure external repair shops follow approved repair practices and adhere to corporate policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of previous managerial experience.
- Must possess and keep valid a 310T Truck & Coach Technician Licence and minimum of a ''G' Driver's Licence.
- Good working knowledge of equipment repair and asset management software systems.
- Excellent computer skills, including Outlook, Excel, MS Word.
- Working knowledge of general accounting practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills to manage, mentor, and guide shop personnel.
- Must be self-motivated, as well as the ability to develop communication and working relationships with employees and colleagues.
- Excellent organizational skills are essential.
- Must be able to work under minimal supervision.
- Experience in meeting deadlines with the ability to work under stressful conditions.
- Must be able to travel to other Miller Waste facilities as required to offer support and leadership.
