Job description
Process Technicians focus on research and experimental operations during their shift and provide data to Senior Operators and Supervisors. Candidates must have a strong work ethic, be safety conscious, display attention to detail, be adaptable, have good communication skills and be able to work in a team-based environment. The successful candidate will safely and efficiently operate equipment necessary as a Process Technician. This position is responsible for performing quality control testing, product packaging and loading/unloading finished goods and raw material.
Responsibilities
- Conduct experiments in accordance with all safety, quality, and efficiency standards by following written and verbal work instructions
- Follow procedures to safely and efficiently operate equipment and instruments related to experimental chemical operations Use equipment and instrumentation to monitor pressure, temperature, chemical compositions, and other conditions
- Perform calibrations on equipment
- Data collection and data input
- Maintain clean and safe work areas
- Complete required preventive maintenance
Requirements
- Proven ability to follow procedures
- Ability to adapt to changing demands and to react to verbal instructions
- Basic knowledge of controls equipment including flow meters, level sensors and pressure gauges.
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science or equivalent experience
- Work experience in chemical labs, analysis labs, or chemical and metallurgical operations is an asset
Essential Physical Demands:
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
- Ability to perform repetitious duties, including stairs and standing for extended periods of time over varied and uneven terrain
- Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 50lbs and climb a 10" step and back down
- Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift, reach, stoop, lay, squat, kneel, crouch, twist, and crawl for extended periods of time
- Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, or hearing
- Potential exposure to confined spaces and hazardous materials
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
