Job description

Position Overview:

Located in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada, Multimatic Niche Vehicles North America (MNVNA) is the facility where some of the World's most exclusive vehicles are produced, among them the Ford GT and Ford Bronco DR.

We are looking for an Engineering Co-Op Student available for 4 - 8 months who will be a part of a core team working on the Bill of Materials, design data management, technical problem solving, assembly issue resolution, project management, launch, execution, and production of exclusive vehicles. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will perform a variety of tasks to support production, quality, purchasing and logistics by assisting in planning, organizing, and problem-solving production processes as well as maintaining manufacturing documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
 

  • Maintain the secrecy of upcoming projects while engaging in advanced activities
  • Work in a safe manner, following safety procedures and general practices common to an automotive assembly environment
  • Assist in the launch of new vehicles and new vehicle editions
  • Organize and maintain production materials, processes, and documentation
  • Maintain, validate, and approve work instructions
  • Support design engineers from multiple divisions, both remotely and on-site
  • Act as a liaison for cross-functional teams to execute programs and resolve issues
  • Assist in the management of the Bill of Materials and assembly sequence
  • Support the change management process, including line trials and final validation of new parts
  • Perform analysis of dimensional or other data in support of investigations or studies
  • Drive engineering improvements by identifying opportunities and implementing robust solutions
  • Support activities relating to the implementation or modification of equipment and processes
  • Participate in Multimatic's continuous improvement program
  • Support report outs and meetings with Management and various other teams/departments
  • Consult with the Engineering team on the resolution of issues as they arise
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Follow APQP, ISO 9001, TS16949 and ISO26262 requirements


Education and Experience:
 

  • Must be currently enrolled in an engineering program
  • Ability to navigate CAD files through viewers to extract information and images
  • Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Must be a team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills; be able to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high visibility environment
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work with minimal supervision while driving timing and meeting tight deadlines
  • Results driven, enthusiastic and energetic with the ability to flex and adapt to changing situations
  • Able to organize information/data in a manner that can be easily communicated and understood
  • Able to organize their own activities as well as coordinate activities of others to complete assignments
  • Familiarity with low and niche volume assembly methods is an asset
  • Experience in a Manufacturing environment and general automobile knowledge is an asset
