ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, TERMINAL MAINTENANCE

Powell River

Casual 

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced and qualified Materials Coordinator. This position is responsible for purchasing a variety of goods and services within established limits and authority; ships; receives and records the movement of corporate goods and maintains inventories. 

As a Material Coordinator, you directly report to the Supply Chain Manager. 

 

  • Process purchasing transactions by reviewing, checking and analyzing requisitions; assists requisitioners to develop product and service specifications; checks all current inventories for availability; and initiates orders with Corporate contracts
  • Expedites the purchasing process; determines contract terms and conditions, invites tenders; using standard forms, writes contract agreements within the establishment limits and authority; and awards and/or recommends awards depending on complexity of the contract
  • Ships, receives and records the movement of goods by organizing, consolidating and coordinating transportation inbound and outbound; loads and unloads trucks; operates a range of motorized equipment for movement and storage of goods; picks, packs and marks orders as required; and maintains recordkeeping systems as appropriate
  • Monitors approved vendor performance; receives, inspects and verifies shipments; and reconciles discrepancies with vendors
  • Performs an inventory control functions utilizing computerized sytstems by monitoring, recording and performing cycle counts and resolving discrepancies; maintaining stock reotation; ensures optimum inventory levels and usage of the warehouse space; maintains parts catalogue and technical reference manual; and performs housekeeping duties
  • Procedures to vendors and internal clients for compliance purposes; and coordinates and/or produces reports
  • May be requires, as some locations, to operate tool cribs by recording issues and returns, and maintaining tools and equipment
  • May provide orientation, guidance and informal training to other employees
  • Other related duties as may be assigned from time to time


What you bring to the team

 

  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing, including technical information, in a manner that is complete, clear and concise
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of individuals to achieve corporate goals
  • Ability to effectively organize and mange one's own workload independently, taking into consideration multiple tasks, change in priorities, deadlines and available resources to ensure efficient completion of tasks
  • Ability to recognize sensitive information and maintain an appropriate level of confidentiality using fair business practices
  • Ability to asses situations, assimilate information from a variety of sources, analyze potential problems and solutions making independent decisions and take appropriate actions
  • Ability to identify and recommend changes to policies, procedures and systems to meet corporate and customer needs
  • Ability to enter, manipulate and retrieve computer data in a quick and accurate manner using current standard BCF Oracle and Maxximo software
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel at the intermediate level
  • Working knowledge of inventory management, warehouse practices and buying principles
  • Working knowledge of relevant trade and engineering materials and equipment
  • Strong team orientation
  • Ability to work well under pressure


Education

BC or inter-provincial TQ in industrial/automotive warehousing; or Certificate in purchasing plus considerable experience in an industrial environment; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience

A valid driver's license, with a clean abstract
