Stellantis is seeking an experienced Environmental Specialist to join our team at Brampton Assembly Plant to ensure environmental compliance and drive sustainability initiatives within our manufacturing facility. This essential role requires a high-energy approach, with a strong sense of accountability for maintaining our high environmental standards. The Environmental Specialist will play a pivotal role in establishing and implementing and maintaining standardized environmental processes at the Brampton Assembly Plant.

As an Environmental Specialist, you will collaborate effectively with managers and across the spectrum of job functions. You will be reporting to the Environmental Manager, Canada with day-to-day direction provided by the Plant Facilities Manager.

Responsibilities of the Environmental Specialist will be:

 

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including water, wastewater, air (ECA permit compliance), chemical, and waste management
  • Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of all pollution control devices to meet regulatory requirements and maintain environmental compliance
  • Supervise waste contractors and manage waste contracts in collaboration with the purchasing department to ensure proper handling and disposal of waste materials
  • Utilize problem-solving methodologies to initiate projects that enhance environmental compliance and performance. Implement programs to improve environmental performance, engaging Team Leaders and involving them in the process
  • Manage environmental reports, permit applications, inventories, and surveys. This includes data acquisition, documentation, record-keeping, monitoring, reviews, and approvals
  • Manage new equipment programs from concept to commissioning stage, ensuring Environmental design specifications and environmental regulations are integrated
  • Provide environmental expertise and support to plant leadership, coordinating communication of regulatory inspection activities
  • Lead environmental projects to improve key performance metrics and achieve environmental goals
  • Analyze environmental incidents, internal and external environmental audit findings., determine root causes, and implement corrective actions. Communicate findings and recommendations to plant leadership and corporate environmental staff
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of the plant's environmental management system, meeting ISO 14001 requirements
  • Develop and update environmental procedures, making them visually accessible. Communicate requirements and deliver training to employees
  • Promote energy management initiatives to both the salary and hourly workforce, conducting energy audits and posting relevant data
  • Provide hands-on leadership on the shop floor, including monitoring the facility and exterior yard to prevent unauthorized dumping and ensuring proper waste disposal

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Engineering, Science, or a related field
  • Minimum FIVE (5) years of Environmental, Engineering, or related experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of Federal, Provincial, and local environmental regulations and requirements
  • Willingness to work on any shift and additional hours as required
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • A desire and willingness to read, learn and understand complex regulatory documents
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient use of SAP, Microsoft Office suite and/or other relevant software
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada


Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Environmental related professional certifications (e.g. P.Eng., CHMM)
  • Master's degree in Environmental, Engineering, Science or related field
  • Automotive or Battery manufacturing experience
