Location: Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada (Onsite)
Daily Schedule/Shift: Rotating shifts - Days (7am-3pm), Afternoons (3pm-11pm) and occasionally Nights (11pm-7am) and weekends.
Position Title: Controls Manager - Automotive Manufacturing & Engineering

Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controls Manager in automotive manufacturing field. Controls Automation Manager will lead, guide, and direct a large group of technical employees responsible for engineering deliverables in support of the organization's business objectives. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS (Global Manufacturing System), focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). You will aid in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing and automation problems and assist in obtaining resources to effectively perform operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage engineering execution of team as related to the Vehicle Development Process deliverables
- Provides technical leadership to work team
- Interacts and collaborates with many teams cross-functionally
- Leads team on new methods or initiatives without defined procedures
- Leads team to meet targets
- Reviews and approves engineering documentation, e.g. requirements, documents
- Identifies & leads staffing initiatives for work team
- Conducts regularly scheduled Group Meetings, Communicates Policies & Procedures, Leadership and Safety Messages
- Creates and communicates vision & strategies specific to functional responsibilities (may include preparing and giving presentations)
- Ensure employees complete all mandatory training and any specific training related to functional responsibility
- Understands & supports employee's career development goals
- Develops and executes initiatives to improve work team capability and increase work team capacity
- Assigns and manages workload for direct reports
- Sets individual employee and group priorities
- Reviews and approves employee work and overtime schedules, expenses, and other work-related data
- Evaluating Performance and Behaviors: Reviews deliverables and provides candid & constructive feedback
- Conducts performance interventions when necessary
- Formally & informally recognizes employee's contributions
- Provides timely and consistent feedback to direct employee's as appropriate
- Participates in compensation planning and administers compensation treatment
- Observes and steps up to remove roadblocks and resolve potential issues
Requirements
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experiences:
- Over 3 years of management experience in an automotive manufacturing enviroment
- Over 5 years technical controls and/or assembly knowledge & experience
- Prior people leader experience
- Experienced in program management of automated systems
- Proficient in robotics, coding, programming, automation, delivery
- Prior project/program management leadership experience
- Prior Manufacturing assignment & solid working relationship with Union
- RedX Certification and/or Six-sigma problem solving experience
- Program management experience in developing, testing, and implementing automated systems and machinery to perform specific tasks
- Standing Engineering team member and regular contributor to a prior Engineering project team
- Working knowledge and relationship with key contacts of major Functional Groups, including: GPSC, Engineering, Quality, CME, Advanced PE, Finance, SQE/AQE, Corporate NPP/MBC staff
- Has experience writing Appropriation Requests, and has maintained project spending information for prior projects - on-time and on-budget history a-plus
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and track record of working collaboratively with cross functional teams to achieve project/program deliverables on time
- Demonstrated willingness to escalate emerging issues and leads team to resolve quickly and competently
- Works constructively with others under pressure to achieve all Project Imperatives
- Strong ability to multi-task and leverage resources to attain challenging goals
- Proficient in developing and adhering to MS Project timelines
- Ability to work OT and off-shift on an as needed basis
- Ability to travel around 25% of the time (US and international)
Preferred Skills and Experiences:
- Experience in the automotive manufacturing sector
- Experience in General Motors manufacturing facilities
Education and Training:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or other relevant technical field. MBA/MS in Engineering or Business Administration is a plus.
