Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Facility/Fleet Supervisor, the Facility & Fleet Assistant will be responsible for the washing and cleaning of all vehicles operated by the Kingston Police and for various duties as assigned to support employees with the daily efficient functioning of the Kingston Police.
Variable shifts are required including weekends and evenings as assigned.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for washing and cleaning both the inside and outside of fleet vehicles;
• Checking to ensure that the vehicles emergency equipment is functioning and advising supervisor of any deficiencies;
• Checking the tire pressure and oil levels of vehicles;
• Checking and replacing contents of vehicle trunks and ensuring deficiencies are noted and replaced as directed by supervisor;
• Maintain vehicle records in respect to vehicle condition, equipment and supplies;
• Maintaining a clean, orderly work area;
• Deliver and pickup vehicles to outside repair facilities;
• Work in a manner that ensures the safety of self and others.
• Advise Fleet Supervisor/Administrator of unusual or dangerous situations
• Setup and prepare meeting rooms for scheduled meetings or special events
• Deliver photocopier paper and replenish copiers within the building
• Assist with setup and takedown of displays at special events
• Assist property stores with moving articles as needed (i.e. bike auction, large articles)
Required Qualifications
• Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Experience with basic car maintenance/detailing.
• Must have a valid class "G" Ontario Driver's licence
• Clean driving record
• Must be medically fit and able to pass a medical examination
• Able to physically prepare meeting rooms (lift/move furniture to desired configurations) and deliver boxes of paper.

• Basic computers skills, able to effectively use basic software applications in a Windows environment (filling out forms, printing checklists, finding and saving documents)
• Ability to multi task and adjust priorities
• Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork as demonstrated by an ability to assist others in accomplishing tasks, ability to support and assist colleagues during various situations and still be able to work independently
• Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner ensuring accurate information is conveyed
• Understanding of the rationale behind the Kingston Police Service policies and procedures and the impact on delivery of service
• An appreciation of the organization's mission, vision and values
• Able to work flexible and overtime hours, including evenings or weekends as required for special events or projects.
