Job description

The Fleet Mechanic is required to perform tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of light vehicles and equipment for the Construction Management team, Big Bay, and KDM. The candidate must have good mechanical skills and be able to analyze, troubleshoot, dismantle, align, assemble, and adjust mechanical equipment to maintain it in efficient operating condition. The Fleet Mechanic is also expected to help determine the nature and extent of needed maintenance and repairs.

Your contributions to the team: 
 

  • Perform light vehicle servicing, tire change overs/balancing and general repairs
  • Perform heavy equipment servicing and repairs as assigned
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance & repairs to fleet equipment and vehicles to ensure they are available, reliable, clean, and safe to operate
  • Cleaning of incoming equipment for inspection to identify required repairs
  • Assist in ordering replacement equipment, parts, and supplies.
  • Accurate completion of work orders and timecards.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
  • Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
  • Maintain safe working environment and adhere to occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in preparing preventative and predictive maintenance schedules.
  • Other mechanical repair work as required.
  • Other duties as assigned, assist shipping/receiving


What you need to be successful: 
 

  • Certified Mechanic with over 3 years experience
  • Experience with routine vehicle and equipment maintenance operations
  • Experience with fleet management software would be an asset
  • Proven mechanical knowledge and skill in gas and diesel automotive and equipment repairs
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and construction management software
