Description

Scope: In this role the primary responsibility lies in the elimination of downtime. This is the most fundamental objective and can only achieved with a sound understanding of machinery reliability and improvement techniques. Including data analysis, Failure Mode Analysis and basic hands-on, conventional maintenance. A can-do attitude with a team-first mentality is a major determinant of success. 

Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering with Professional Engineering designation or pursuing the Professional Engineering designation and are registered with PEO)
  • Licensed electrician in the province of Ontario
  • Must have strong English written and verbal skills.
  • Computer skills, software skills, Microsoft Office
  • Familiar with Keyence and other vision systems
  • Familiar with Laser marking systems.
  • Familiar with nut runner controls and systems, Cleco and other
  • Expert level PLC programming with OMRON
  • Familiar with the various industrial networks
  • Familiar with SCADA systems.
  • Competency with electric press
  • Competency with leak tester
  • Competency with Siemens PLC
  • Competency with AB PLC.
  • Competency with Fanuc CNC controls
  • Competency with ABB or other robotic systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints, GD&T.
  • Strong technical skills, particularly in the areas of machining and assembly.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Maintenance Engineer/Engineering Specialist, and 3 years' experience in the automotive industry.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 will be an asset.


Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Analyze breakdown data in order to improve the efficiency and performance the various lines and machines.
  • Responsible to protect own health and safety by working in compliance with established safe work practices and
  • procedures.
  • Ensure effective, non-repetitive problem solving and machine repair occurs on all shifts.
  • Helps to Coordinate all maintenance activities in an efficient manner in conjunction with the Team leader and Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Develop and start-up spare parts lists for new equipment.
  • Ensure compliance in regards IATF requirements.
  • Assist in planning maintenance activities, including weekend work and plant shutdowns etc.
  • Assist in sourcing and ordering of spare parts.
  • Identify and assist in arranging the necessary training required for the maintenance team.
  • Assessment and application of current and emerging technologies in regards to predictive maintenance and maintenance engineering.
  • Conduct failure analysis and make recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Responsible for the vibration analysis and infrared analysis program, including training of maintenance staff.
  • Takes on special projects regarding machine reliability and cost savings.
  • Generally, assist the maintenance manager in the day-to-day operation of the maintenance department.
  • Support environmental initiatives related to ISO 14001.
  • Support new equipment installations.
  • Hands-on maintenance and repair as needed
  • Perform other duties as required within his/her abilities.
  • Mentor, motivate and council.


Organizational Relationship: report to the Maintenance Manager and is accountable to him/her for the effectiveness discharge of his/her responsibilities.
