Where does the CMM Technician fit in?

The Technician will be responsible for the measurement of parts and components for first article inspection, part/component validation, PPAP submission. This position will also be responsible for the maintenance, calibration and general operation of quality lab measurement devices and check fixtures.

As the Technician you will ensure that quality system hardware, operating systems, and applications are managed to corporate policies, procedures with a strong focus on documentation.

What you can expect as our next CMM Technician:
 

  • Perform CMM measurements, set-up, inspection and reporting in quality lab
  • Be hands-on with the monitoring, measurement, and support of most QC systems
  • Maintains gage qualification, calibration records & quality related documentation
  • Create and maintain quality reports and communicate findings to appropriate personnel
  • Investigate and suggest improvements for measurement methods
  • Perform measurements of products and components for part validation,PPAP and first article inspection
  • Perform calibration of all metrology equipment
  • Ensure all lab equipment is maintained in a good working order
  • Perform studies and collect data to determine part and process capabilities at varying stages of production
  • Enforce and follow Axiom policies, procedures and best practices.
  • Liaises with engineering and other production staff as required to troubleshoot, research and solve technical problems
  • Other duties as assigned


Are you our next CMM Technician?

PRE-REQUISITES:
 

  • Must have minimum 2 years working experience in quality/inspection and calibration experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings (GD&T)
  • Ability to operate CMM independently
  • Hands on experience using Rational DMIS & PC-DMIS software is an asset!
  • Experience with Design software and interpreting to CMM (CAD/AutoCAD)
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments including Optical Comparator, Calipers, Micrometers, Gauge Block, Pin Gauge, CMM, FARO, etc.)
  • CQA or CQT certification is an asset!
  • Must have knowledge of statistics and SPC functions and analysis of related data.
  • Good analytical, oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated individual with a strong attention to detail
  • Computer literacy and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience in the Automotive industry is an asset!
