We are currentlysearching for a Fleet Maintenance Manager tojoin us. The Fleet Maintenance Manager will beresponsible for managing and directing maintenance staffand assisting and coordinating of all fleet maintenanceoperations including maintenance, contract compliance,administration, and ensuring compliance with labour,safety, environmental, and corporate policies andregulations. 

What will you do?
 

  • Ensuredaily, weekly, monthly maintenance and preventative maintenance goals are metensuring that safe and reliable vehicles are available each day to meetoperational requirements;
  • Maximizefleet up time to allow the operation to fulfill its municipal collectioncontractual requirements daily;
  • Overseeall work performed by contracted third party maintenance andrepair vendors;
  • Enforcecontract terms of third-party maintenance and repair agreements;
  • Ensure accurate PreventativeMaintenance scheduling and follow up is done, provide breakdown and vehiclestatus updates; oversee technical assignments for efficiency, training,and flexibility;
  • Trackingdowntime for all equipment;
  • Workin tandem with the Operation Manager to co-ordinate and prioritize all work inthe service board (daily jobs/repairs, running repairs, customer prioritizing);
  • Dispatch/supervisework to mechanics based on skill level and timing;
  • Utilizeyour proven supervisory skills to provide leadership and coaching to mechanicsof all experience levels;
  • Assist withtrouble shooting and solving of mechanical problems;
  • Ensureproductivity and work quality goals are met;
  • Hands-onday to day active management and a strong presence in the yardoverseeing mechanics;
  • Communicate/workin tandem with Operations Department and key team members;
  • Managingactivities against prescribed KPIs;
  • Reviewand approval of work orders in a timely, dailymanner focusing on accuracy and quality;
  • Developand track the maintenance operating budget and manage within budget constraintsto ensure the long-term viability of the operation;
  • Preparemanagement reporting as required;
  • Manageand coach all staff assigned to the department to ensure performance targetsare being met;
  • Ensureidentified employee training requirements are fulfilled to meet compliance andsafety standards;
  • Maintaina safe working environment by administering and managing safe work practicesand policies;
  • Provideweekly progress reports to Operations Management;
  • Developannual fleet life cycle capital plans based on user requirements and throughanalytical evaluations of existing fleet vehicles and equipment;
  • Developcontract specifications for several fleet and equipment related partsand services;
  • Maximizeoperational efficiency by leveraging the available fleet routing andfleet maintenance technologies (i.e. RTA) utilized bythe company;
  • Manageand review all warranty claims;
  • Managemaintenance files to ensure MTO compliance;
  • Manageand review reports using ASI fuel management system.
