Heavy Equipment Technician

Position Summary
Eagle Builders is a local, family-owned, and operated manufacturing construction company guided by Christian beliefs and values. We specialize in the design, engineering, fabrication, and building of precast concrete structures.
Are you a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician with a talent for solving mechanical challenges? Eagle Builders is seeking a dedicated professional to support the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of our equipment, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
This full-time position will be situated in our mechanics bay in Blackfalds. The ideal candidate possesses a Journeyman or 3rd-year apprentice ticket and previous experience with industrial and construction equipment. The successful candidate will be physically fit, as this is a position that requires you to perform labor-intensive work at a relatively fast pace.
Job Description
- Responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining all fleet vehicles, cranes, semi-trucks, and heavy equipment
- Maintain a detailed report and perform scheduled inspection and maintenance on all fleet as per the company maintenance program
- Adjust equipment and replace defective parts, components, or systems
- Test equipment for proper performance and ensure that it is working to meet manufacturers' and legislated regulations
- Meeting and exceeding high standards of accuracy and quality based on established systems, programs, technology, and guidelines
- Planning, organizing, and prioritizing in an effective sequence to be efficient
- Communicate and coordinate with internal and/or external parties as required
- Maintain a suitable inventory of wearable parts
- Read, research and problem-solve to find required solutions
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures
Requirements
- 3rd year Heavy Duty Apprentice or Journeyman
- Valid Class 5 drivers' license, acceptable abstract and reliable transportation
- Minimum 44-50 hours/week, must be flexible and willing to work overtime
- Available to work Monday-Friday, occasional Saturday
- Available to join a rotating on-call schedule
- Physically fit with the ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods
- Previous experience with industrial and construction equipment
- Present an eagerness and willingness to learn and receive instruction/direction from qualified Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician
- Strong organization and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff
- Able to work in a team environment and independently
- Operates in a safe, clean, and tidy manner
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think outside the box
- Willing to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
- Proficient in both verbal and written English communication
- Applicants will be required to complete a pre-employment assessment prior to hire
- Local or willing to relocate to Central Alberta
Assets
- Completion of Construction Safety Training System (CSTS)
- Experience in computer diagnostics (ie: Quickserve)
- Commercial vehicle inspection license
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems
