MARINE NAVIGATIONAL EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN

Little River

As a key member of the Fleet Support Unit, you maintain and repair shipboard navigational aids and communication systems equipment at multiple locations throughout the fleet. You analyze faulty equipment using a variety of electronic and technical tools. You install and ensure the quality control of various marine and other related equipment. You assist in maintaining adequate inventory of parts and equipment; provide basic operator instruction and familiarization of new equipment and maintain the ship's service log.

You are extremely organized and analytical with a high level of self-motivation and initiative. You are an effective communicator and effective problem-solver with an ability to anticipate, identify, and initiate appropriate solutions in a cohesive, team-oriented environment.

You have an Electronic Technician; and or Technologist Diploma from a recognized technical institute with avionics and/or wireless certificate, a Restricted Radio Operator Certificate with Marine VHF/DSC and Land Mobile endorsement, certification and or extensive experience trouble shooting and maintenance of IBS (Integrated Bridge System) installations, along with minimum 5 years' experience in marine electronics maintenance and repair. You adhere to Canadian Coast Guard and Industry Canada regulations in all aspects of service and repair work. In addition, you have working knowledge of relevant materials, tools, and marine electronics systems and a basic understanding of marine navigation. This position requires a valid driver's license and travel is required.
