City Experiences is seeking a General Maintenance Cleaner for our City Cruises operation in Niagara Falls.

*Please Note: This a seasonal/contract position*

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences' RESPECT Service System.

About the Opportunity:

The General Maintenance Cleaner is responsible for ensuring that the upper & lower landing facilities, are attractive and in working order. This role will provide preventative, corrective, emergency, cosmetic and routine maintenance as well as provide a number of technical maintenance services for the upper and lower landings. This position will include such duties as painting, cleaning, repairing, renovating and remodeling.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

General Maintenance Duties:

 

  • Performs various duties such as painting, fixing, repairing and troubleshooting minor problems
  • Basic carpentry & masonry work
  • Completes work using logs, inspection forms, and maintenance databases in preparation for ISO audits (as required)
  • Works closely with the Shift Manager to complete duties and work assignments
  • Advises management of corrective actions or preventative actions when necessary
  • Assists with the start-up and close-out of projects
  • Possesses ability to maintain a high customer service level
  • Responds to work order requests as needed in a timely and accurate manner, and cleans up after work orders are complete
  • Maintains inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment and makes purchasing recommendations
  • As directed, performs inspections of systems. Informs staff of any unusual activity or maintenance issues in a timely manner
  • Maintains all equipment to manufacturer's specifications
  • Ensures compliance with health and safety procedures
  • Works closely with manager, supervisor and lead
  • Knows and understands internal policy and external regulatory requirements that relate to the position and department


Cleaning Duties:

 

  • Clean bathrooms regularly, including replenishing supplies such as soap and toilet paper
  • Checks all garbage bins, emptying them when necessary
  • Collects garbage and recycling on land and separates each accurately to individual compactors
  • Works with good housekeeping practices and safety to promote a work environment free of hazards
  • Applies high energy, self-motivation and willingness to learn and be trained on various types of equipment
  • Logs job duties and daily tasks as set forth in documentation requirements
  • Works in compliance with safety policies and procedures as well as identifies risks and hazards prior to job completion
  • Adheres to all health and safety regulations
  • Works with a safety mindset by following all safety policies, procedures and safety measures (i.e. PPE). Identifies and brings forward risks, hazards and opportunities on the job. Actively participates in health and safety in the workplace
  • Maintains a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (refer to appearance standards in employee handbook)
  • Reports to work on time and for all scheduled shifts
  • Understands all Niagara City Cruises' policies and procedures relating to the employee's role within the company
  • Maintains any applicable licenses and certifications
  • Completes any other duties as assigned


Requirements & Qualifications:

 

  • O.S.S.D. or equivalent as recognized by the Ministry of Education
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience in facilities and maintenance role preferably in a hospitality environment
  • General knowledge of electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems
  • WHMIS (training provided)
  • Working knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out Systems
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Experience with ISO compliance & standards considered an asset
  • Must be willing to work all shifts including days/evenings shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push, pull, move or lift up to 50 pounds (23 kilograms)
  • Walk, stand, sit and work in all types of weather conditions for extended periods
  • Continually and repeatedly perform functions indoors and outdoors
  • If required, wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e. non-slip shoes, gloves, weather appropriate dress attire, sun protection)
