Job Title: Fuel and Lube Technician

Reporting to the Supervisor Construction, the Fuel and Lube Technician is responsible for assisting with all site services and utilities work, including the maintenance and servicing of vehicles, machinery, and operational equipment

This role ensures the proper lubrication and fueling of equipment to optimize performance, longevity, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Lubrication and Maintenance:

 

  • Perform routine lubrication of heavy equipment and machinery, ensuring proper functioning and minimizing wear and tear.
  • Lubricate wheel bearings to prevent excessive tire wear and improve overall performance.
  • Apply lubricants to moving parts of vehicle engines to prevent premature wear and optimize efficiency.
  • Conduct engine cleanings to prevent rust formation and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Replace cabin, fuel, air, and oil filters as required.


Tire and Equipment Inspection:

 

  • Perform tire rotations to ensure even tire wear and prolong tire life.
  • Test tire pressure and adjust as needed to maintain optimal performance and safety.
  • Thoroughly inspect vehicles and equipment for oil leaks, ensuring early detection and prevention of potential issues.
  • Make recommendations for additional servicing based on initial vehicle inspections.


Fueling and Compliance:

 

  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations related to fuel and lubrication handling.
  • Maintain accurate records of lubrication, fuel usage, and maintenance performed.
  • Assist in the fueling of heavy machinery, trucks, and other equipment as needed.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free from safety hazards.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance personnel to support overall site operations.


The Ideal Candidate

Education / Qualifications:

 

  • Air Brakes Ticket required.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.


Experience / Skills

 

  • Previous experience as a Fuel and Lube Technician or in a similar maintenance role.
  • Knowledge of lubrication techniques and vehicle maintenance procedures.
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment, machinery, and fleet maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy materials, work in all weather conditions, and stand for extended periods.
  • Adaptable to change, ability to operate in less than perfect conditions and with less than perfect information at times.
  • Detail oriented with excessive attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exhibits a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters.
  • Effective team player who can jump in wherever is needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and reasoning skills, with proven problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as with others.


Work Location & Conditions

This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation. 

The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena's Travel Policy. 

There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
