Position Overview

The Fleet Manager isresponsible for the maintenance, operation, and optimization of RFNOW's fleet,ensuring all vehicles and equipment are running efficiently, safely, and incompliance with regulatory standards. This role involves strategic planning tominimize costs, maximize asset utilization, and support operational goals.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Oversee daily fleet operations,ensuring vehicles and equipment are properly maintained and available.
  • Develop and implement preventivemaintenance schedules to reduce downtime and extend asset lifespan.
  • Track and monitor vehicle usage, fuelconsumption, and efficiency to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal,provincial, and local transportation regulations, including safety inspectionsand emissions standards.
  • Coordinate the procurement,outfitting, and disposal of fleet vehicles and heavy equipment.
  • Negotiate with suppliers forcost-effective acquisition of vehicles, equipment, and parts.
  • Maintain accurate records of fleetinventory, warranties, insurance, and leasing agreements.
  • Implement and manage fleet trackingsystems for real-time monitoring and maintenance tracking.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections andaudits to ensure compliance with fleet policies.
  • Investigate accidents, mechanicalfailures, and compliance violations, implementing corrective actions.
  • Provide training and guidance todrivers and operators on vehicle care, fuel efficiency, and safe drivingpractices.
  • Develop and manage the fleet budget,controlling costs related to fuel, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Analyze fleet expenses and performanceto identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
  • Work with finance and operations teamsto optimize leasing, rental, and purchase decisions.
  • Stay updated on emerging fleetmanagement technologies, including GPS tracking and telematics.


Qualifications & Experience

Education& Experience
 

  • Diploma or degree in Logistics, Transportation Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in fleet management, logistics, or a related role.


Skills &Knowledge
 

  • Strong understanding of vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance (e.g., DOT, CVOR, NSC, and other applicable regulations).
  • Proficiency in fleet management software and telematics systems.
  • Strong negotiation skills for vendor and supplier management.
  • Expertise in budgeting and cost control.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership abilities.


Certifications(Preferred & Assets)
 

  • Class 1 or Class 3 driver's license (preferred).
  • Fleet Management or Transportation Safety certification (an asset).


Work Environment
 

  • Combination of office and field work, with travel to sites for inspections and vendor meetings.
  • May require on-call availability to respond to emergencies, breakdowns, or incidents outside regular business hours.
