Overall Responsibility:

The Materials Manager is responsible for the overall direction of the AMTB Materials Department, overseeing all aspects of customer and supplier relations, warehousing, planning, and inventory management. This role is instrumental in optimizing the plant's materials management and logistics, ensuring seamless material flow and accurate inventory control. The Materials Manager collaborates closely with Plant Production, Finance, and Program Management to improve material information flow related to MRP (CMS), including customer releases, raw material scheduling, production scheduling, and production and scrap reporting. A strong focus is placed on implementing world-class lean material flow practices throughout the supply chain, logistics, and in-plant storage systems.

Accountabilities:

 

  • Lead and develop the Materials personnel, ensuring adherence to all materials procedures and best practices.
  • Manage customer satisfaction by ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Maintain and optimize the internal fleet of racks utilizing RF tag systems and visual label placards.
  • Enforce accountability for perpetual inventory accuracy, material variance management, and maintaining a balanced overall inventory value.
  • Oversee plant scheduling to ensure on-time customer deliveries, plant efficiency, and optimal inventory levels.
  • Drive continuous improvement in lean material flow throughout AMTB suppliers, logistics, and in-plant storage/pull systems.
  • Support and mentor plant materials personnel and suppliers to enhance performance and efficiency.


Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in New Program launch management.
  • 5+ years of experience in materials management within an automotive manufacturing environment, preferably in steel blanking.
  • Strong understanding of MRP systems, preferably CMS, and their application in scheduling, forecasting, and inventory management.
  • Proven ability to drive lean material flow improvements and supply chain optimization.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to manage material variances and maintain inventory health.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and mentor materials team members.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work cross-functionally with Production, Finance, and Program Management teams.
  • Knowledge of perpetual inventory management and material variance controls.
  • Experience with RF tag systems and visual labeling for inventory management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
