As a Crossing Guard with the Town, you will:

 

  • Provide the safe movement of children to and from school at designated school crossing locations by observing safe gaps in the traffic and leading the children across the roadway or intersection
  • Supervise children while crossing
  • Recognize road hazards and exercise good judgement in interrupting the flow of traffic


To be considered, you must:

 

  • Enjoy working with children. Experience as a crossing-guard would be an asset
  • Provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector check
  • Possess strong observation skills and the ability to recognize traffic hazards
  • Must be able to understand and follow written and oral instructions
  • Be courteous and have the ability to deal effectively with children, pedestrians, drivers etc.
  • Be punctual
  • Be able to carry and raise a "Stop" paddle for the shift duration (5lbs)
