Reporting to the Director of Maintenance the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for the daily Fleet Services function of our Toronto and Ottawa Terminals. The successful applicant should possess a strong mechanical knowledge of highway tractors and trailers with a primary focus on fuel and special commodities equipment. This position is ideal for a seasoned technician looking to get off the shop floor and manage a mid-sized tanker fleet. We are looking for an outside the box mentality with strong knowledge of maintenance practices that can work with our vendors on the best execution of the repair and maintenance of our fleet promoting reduced downtime while not compromising the safety or integrity of our fleet.
This is a Monday-to-Friday position with after-hours phone coverage required
About the position
- Plan, organize, and schedule all aspects of maintenance including regular preventative maintenance, tires, and washing
- Coordinate calls, emails, scheduling planner, manage the PO system and track and manage costs
- Strong Mechanical knowledge to deal with equipment breakdowns in real-time including after-hours calls as required
- Regularly audit partner vendor quotes, and completed repairs to ensure quality maintenance is consistent and aligned with our company standards
- Responsible for ensuring Health and Safety standards are adhered to; we pride ourselves on a safe and productive workplace
- Responsible for communicating and coordinating with Operations to ensure needed equipment is available to the shop in a timely and efficient manner
- Involved in maintenance and general up-keep of the facilities and applicable properties
- Create and maintain a positive work environment
- Other duties as required
What you bring:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role with a proven record in the transportation maintenance industry
- A strong mechanical background with preference given to experience in the tanker and special commodities industry
- An innovative and open mind to new philosophies and ideas to improve any processes necessary to make maintenance as effective and efficient as possible
- Ability to plan and coordinate maintenance with an understanding of maintenance programs and standard repair times within the maintenance industry
- Highly energetic person with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Well organized, detail-oriented, enthusiastic, and confident with a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude towards work
- Ability to maintain professional and respectful composure in challenging situations
- Excellent customer service skill with ability to clearly communicate
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office products
- A solid business presence complimented by personal drive, resourcefulness, maturity, integrity, honesty, and sound business judgment
