SHOP FLEET MANAGER

THE FINER DETAILS

Start Date: ASAP

Work Hours: Permanent, full-time position

Location: Burnaby, BC

Wages: $95,000 salary per year, plus benefits

We are seeking a mechanic shop / bus fleetmanager to supervise and manage all mechanical resources within the operationalworkshop to ensure the provision of fit and serviceable vehicles of sufficient numberto meet the operational requirements of a tour bus sightseeing operation. Youwill lead and motivate all levels of mechanics staff and ensure the workplacestandards conform to company standards.

YOUR WORK WILL INCLUDE:
 

  • Ensuring that all staff within the garage fully understand and comply with Company and provincial regulations, with regards to hours of work, health & safety, and working practices
  • Managing, supporting, and motivating team members and allocating them accordingly to ensure vehicle quality and service coverage is maintained
  • Ensuring vehicles and their records are maintained in accordance with all Company standards and Ministry of Transportation and Transit requirements
  • Ensuring that sufficient vehicles are clean, reliable and available, throughout the working day for allocation into operational service, to the company standards and provide on the road mechanical support for all vehicles
  • Monitoring material, utilization, holding and requirements of the department's inventory
  • Planning and overseeing the maintenance of the workshop and site plant, equipment and premises ensuring all legislation is adhered to
  • Acting as the competent person in all Health and Safety matters within the mechanical sites and to produce risk assessments, safe working practices, toolbox talks, PPE provisions along with any other Health and Safety related procedures
  • Managing mechanical team members in the performance of their duties providing advice, guidance motivation, high performance levels, leadership and effective management as necessary
  • Having the ability and preparedness to actively work on vehicles with team members or alone if required.
  • Providing a high level of technical expertise and support to mechanic team members, to ensure their skills and competence levels continually improve, and to identify training needs
  • Ensuring that no malpractice occurs in the established procedures, by monitoring and auditing systems and practices
  • Attending managers' meetings reporting to the Director of Operations and producing monthly reports on health and safety, fleet maintenance and safety schedules, vehicle allocation performance, fleet annual test presentation, staffing levels and key projects.


WHAT WE WILL LIKE ABOUT YOU
 

  • You have previousexperience as a Shop / Bus Fleet Manager or Lead Hand of at least 3 years
  • Red Seal Certification inCommercial Transport or Heavy Duty is required
  • Inspectors' ticket is anasset
  • Having a BC CommercialDriver's License - Class 1, 2, or 3 with air brake endorsement - is an asset
  • You have a good workingknowledge of Transport Canada and the Ministry of Transportation and Transit standards
  • You like to work flexible hours to ensure deadlines and changes in business demands are met
  • You are a strong leader;articulate, personable, well-presented and able to liaise effectively with a widerange of colleagues and external stakeholders
  • You have a professionalappearance and manner
  • Occupational Health andSafety accreditation would be an asset
  • You are self-motivated andcan interact with all managers in an objective and impartial way
  • You have excellentcommunication skills, both written and oral
  • You have good reportwriting skills
  • You have working IT knowledge,including Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
