Overall Responsibility:
- Coordination and effective scheduling of workers to meet production targets and quality standards.
- Training of staff in production methods, safety, policies and procedures, as well as the identification and correction of potential work problems and health and safety issues.
- Prepare a range of reports and hold responsibilities for the effective budgeting for their area.
Accountabilities
- Assist in the implementation of any changes in current production processes or any new projects pertaining to production.
- Responsible for ensuring minimal downtime and interacting with maintenance to document downtime.
- Operate as the on-floor expert of assembly process, tools, equipment, products; utilizing expertise to fulfill all production requirements.
- Lead and develop their team to ensure maximum results through coaching, team building etc.
- Supply fair, honest and consistent feedback to production employees. For the purpose of positive reinforcement, and two-way communication - document for future performance appraisal.
- Ensure all daily process audits are completed by the appropriate team members (ex. Equipment readiness, first off, fork lifts, etc).
- Ensure that our quality exceeds customer expectations. Apply methods and processes to reach quality defect goals.
- Support and lead various continuous improvement initiatives; reducing inefficiencies and identifying cost savings.
- Lead and ensure all production personnel are trained effectively. Ensuring that all training documentation is complete and filed promptly.
- Track and report on employee time and attendance. Ensuring all reports are accurate and submitted on time for bi-weekly payroll.
- Oversee the daily routine maintenance and plant safety. (e.g./house cleaning, ensure workstations are neat, clean and safe to work, shutdown/lock up procedures are followed).
- Responsible for the safety and well being of all personnel on their shift and ensure that all work is performed in a safe manner in accordance with all Health & Safety Regulations.
- Held accountable for maintaining a firm and fair consistent process of discipline, communicating to the reporting Manager and Human Resources any recommended discipline, and ensuring documentation of all discipline is followed through as per policy.
- Compile weekly reports in a business centre format and report out on performance measurables.
- Conduct daily production meetings and update staff on production demands, quality statistics and safety concerns.
- Fulfill all Health and Safety responsibilities as identified in the ArcelorMittal Occupational Health and Safety Program.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies Required
- Grade 12 or GED required.
- Some college or certification in manufacturing or technology seen as an asset.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in manufacturing. (Automotive is an asset)
- Minimum 5 years' experience same role. (Manufacturing environment is a must)
- Basic proficiency In Microsoft office including excel is a must.
- Experience utilizing visual work instructions to complete a task and train.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exposure to ISO14001 and TS16949 standards is considered an asset.
- Ability to coach, manage and inspire the people.
- Ability to learn new concepts and technologies, passion to transfer it.
- Always constructive suggestions for improvement and driving for continued success.
