This is a unionized position on DAY SHIFT.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

  • Various preparatory tasks for CNC like using bandsaw, mitre saw, milling machine, Dremel and various sanders/grinders (machine shop equipment/power tools)
  • Ability to operate machine shop equipment safely for extended period (in excess of 60 minutes)
  • Fine motor skills while using hand tools for cutting/crimping miniature components for example terminals on electrical harnesses
  • Metal wire bending using manual bending tool sets requiring upper body strength & fine control for positioning bend locations.
  • Metal forming / fabricating using bandsaw/grinders/sheet metal brake
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs individually
  • Ability to assist in lifting objects up to 100 lbs (team lifting typically for automotive seats)
  • Ability to remember/recall multiple step tasks in proper sequence


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Skills:
 

  • High school diploma or equivalent - Technical Specialty Skills Stream preferred
  • Vocational/technical training or equivalent in CNC machining or a related field
  • Apprenticeship programs that combine on-the-job training with classroom instruction can be beneficial
  • Certifications from recognized industry institutions related to metal forming / wire bending / electrical harness/connector
  • Basic knowledge of design principles and procedures.
  • Basic statistical process control, quality control and reporting techniques.
  • Knowledge of safety and workplace hazardous materials procedures.
  • Reading, writing, listening and communications skills.
  • Basic mathematics and measurement skills. Basic computer literacy in a Windows environment.
  • Basic knowledge of blueprint reading including basic GD&T
  • Ability to fabricate basic prototypes using prototype fabricating equipment.
  • Ability to record key dimensions and properties of prototype parts.
  • Knowledge of specification of products, components and raw materials
