What You'll Be Doing
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cleaning, lubricating, and preventive maintenance (fluid changes, filter replacement, inspections, etc.) on heavy construction equipment such as excavators, dozers, articulated dump trucks, wheel loaders and loader backhoes on customer site
- Learn to use diagnostic tools and computer applications to assist in troubleshooting/diagnosing equipment malfunctions and assist with equipment repairs when needed. Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
- Assist with repairing and replacing damaged parts and components, ensuring all work meets manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain documentation of inspections, maintenance, and work orders in a thorough and timely manner.
- Order parts, receive parts and open/close purchase orders as required
- Collaborate with senior technicians and team members to enhance your skills and knowledge in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
- Follow all safety procedures and health regulations, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
What You'll Bring to the Team
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Strong mechanical aptitude, and a passion for learning and developing mechanical knowledge and skills
- Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- 1-3 years of mechanical experience, preferably working on heavy equipment
- Very self-directed, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- A high school diploma or equivalent; additional technical courses or certifications in mechanics or related fields are an asset
- Valid Class G driver's license with a clean or satisfactory driver's abstract (no more than three demerit points). You will be required to provide a copy of your updated driver's abstract upon request.
- Willingness to work outdoors (sometimes in harsh outdoor environments)
- Available to work overtime/on-call as needed and occasional weekends.
- Ability to work safely and follow instructions closely
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Experience with using diagnostic tools is an asset
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, customers, and supervisors
