The Role:

General Motors of Canada is looking for a Communications Intern/Co-Op student to support internal employee communications, and external communication strategies in the Corporate Affairs department. You will be part of the GM Canada Communications function and work in a fast-paced environment!

Our headquarters supports both manufacturing and non-manufacturing locations across the country and is based in Oshawa, Ontario. This is primarily an On-Site position and occasional remote work from home.

Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Write content for internal, external, and digital audiences
  • Develop compelling storytelling opportunities for CAMI Assembly
  • Able to work independently
  • Assist with onsite event planning and execution
  • Contribute to the development of visual communications including video editing and presentations
  • Research and gather information for upcoming projects
  • Present and share communications plans with leadership team
  • Analyze social channel data and analytics to support future communications plans


Required Qualifications:
 

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor's (3rd and 4th year students) or Master's degree in one of the following areas: Communications, Journalism, PR, Multimedia, Social Sciences, Arts
  • Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week in Canada, and for 8, 12 or 16-month term (2-4 consecutive semesters) starting January 2025
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills with attention to detail
  • Comfortable using social media and creating content
  • Proficient with MS Excel, Power Point, Word, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Effective Storytelling
  • Proven planning and organization skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong team/work ethic
  • High level of independent thinking and decision-making skills
  • Have a valid Full Class G Ontario Driver's Licence, or equivalent Canadian out-of-province licence
