Responsibilities:
- Engineer product solutions and technologies for the Core Product Development (CPD) using advanced design methods and tools.
- Generate novel design ideas, optimize current CPD projects, and develop detail solutions based on engineering calculations, sketches and specifications.
- Perform tolerance and design analysis using GD&T principles and suitable engineering tools (Minitab, Enventive, KissSoft, and others) to document the results and assumptions.
- Prototype conceptual design solutions using mockups (hand built, 3d printing, machined or other means) to evaluate their feasibility and performance.
- Conduct engineering activities to validate product design using various testing methods and standards in support of project deliverables and core team timing requirements.
- Coordinate and track design work (models, design drawings, assembly drawings) to ensure they are released on time and to internal standards.
- Participate actively on core teams and present engineering deliverables from the CPD workbook.
- Maintain accurate records of technical information and data to support the project deliverables using effective communication skills and tools.
- Ensure products are reviewed for best practice from a Design for assembly (DFA) and DFSS analytical analysis.
- Meet all required compliance and audit deliverables using appropriate standards and rules.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Engineering degree from a recognized University or equivalent qualification.
- Preferred 3 years of experience in automotive product design.
- Knowledge of product assembly and component tolerances using GD&T and prior experience in presenting, engineering calculations and analysis, and automotive APQP terms.
- Competence in working in a fast-paced work environment to address design problems, project outcomes to a predetermined timeline. Always uphold a positive disposition in self and team.
- Experience in injection molded components and DC motors is a plus.
