Job description

Title: Heavy Equipment/Forklift Mechanic

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Location: Mississauga, ON

Heavy Equipment/Forklift mechanic repairing, maintaining fleet of forklifts and heavy equipment, such as wheel loaders, skid steers, and backhoes at a large industrial facility.

Monday to Friday: 8-hour shifts. Overtime as required.

Pay Rate: $36.22 during probation. After probation $42.61 per hour. 

Key Accountabilities
• Inspects, diagnoses and services powered lift truck systems, and other equipment, including electrical, steering, braking, hydraulic, frames, transmissions, drive axles, suspension, and wheels and lifting systems pertaining to powered lift trucks and other equipment.
• Work through preventative maintenance program
• Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy machinery and work in cramped or awkward positions.
• Inventory management; tracking parts
• Operates hand, power, specialized, precision, and electronic service tools to make required repairs
• Participate in formal and informal training sessions
• Must be able to work flexible schedule to support hours of operations
• Must be self-motivated and flexible to take on any task that may arise
• Cooperative attitude, team player
• Ensure compliance with all M.O.E, Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
• The job is within a heavy industrial environment, and you may be required to work within various areas of the facility. The environmental conditions may be hot, cold, dirty, dusty, wet or noisy.
• Safety is our highest priority, and safety procedures and guidelines must be always adhered to, such as lock out / tag out, machine guarding control, confined space entry and Hot Work. This includes wearing personal protective equipment, such as a hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, respirators, flame retardant clothing and safety shoes with metatarsal protection at all times during a work shift.
• Employees work in a unionized, highly industrial foundry setting.

Experience, Qualifications & Education
• Certified lift truck mechanic (e.g., 310T, 310S, 421T)
• Valid driver's license
• Good time management
• Punctual
• Eager to learn
• Safety minded
• Detail oriented with the ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task in a busy environment
• Able to use current technology to ensure vehicle safety and performance
• Proactive attitude and takes initiative to prevent issues

• Willingness to learn new skills
