Job description

REPORTS TO: Fleet Manager
LOCATION: Initial Placement - Mt. Vernon

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Secondary school education
  • Valid Truck and Coach Technician (310T) certificate and Automotive Service Technician (310S) certificate
  • 4-5 years of experience working on light vehicles, heavy trucks and equipment
  • Experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy and winter maintenance equipment
  • Good technical and mechanical skills with strong knowledge of parts and repairs of heavy equipment
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable abstract
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, demonstrating superior customer service skills
  • Good communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated safe work practices (in compliance with applicable legislation, i.e. Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7, County of Brant Health & Safety Policies & Procedures, etc.)

Assets:

  • Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (421A)
  • DZ endorsement
  • Municipal experience
  • Experience with hydraulic systems

Duties:

  • Maintain and repair a variety of light, medium and heavy equipment
  • Conducts vehicle inspections in accordance with provincial and municipal requirements
  • Complete all documentation required to generate a complete and accurate maintenance log, including but not limited to the vehicle daily logbook and service repair sheets, for all vehicles and equipment that are serviced or maintained
  • Respond to equipment break downs outside of normal working hours as required
  • Complete maintenance and housekeeping duties to ensure a safe and organized worksite
  • Oversee the work of an apprentice if required
  • Other duties as assigned

Annual Salary Range - $78,582 - $91,909 effective April 1, 2025 (Grade 5)40 hours per week
