Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing large fleet vehicles both on-site and in the shop to service a fleet of mixer trucks. You will also operate a service truck for emergency repairs, ensuring all maintenance records are accurately updated.

Payrate: $45/hour

Responsibilities
 

  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on fleet vehicles on site and in the shop.
  • Troubleshoot and repair vehicles on site and in a shop environment based on the nature of the repair.
  • Operate service truck for emergency truck repairs.
  • Complete and update daily work orders, tracking all maintenance records.
  • Communicate with drivers, mechanics, and other team members about maintenance/repairs.
  • Clean, maintain and secure work area.
  • Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
  • Perform CVIP certifications.
  • Maintain, order, and audit part stock, taking inventory as required.
  • Provide on the job training to new employees and guidance to junior apprentices.
  • Attend meetings and wear PPE while on site, etc.
  • Participate in company safety program and initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
 

  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician designation required.
  • Class 5 drivers license and clean drivers abstract.
  • 1-2 years of previous heavy-duty mechanical experience dealing with large fleet vehicles such as mixer trucks.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs on a consistent and frequent basis.
  • CVIP certification is an asset.

Hours of Work

Hours of work for this position based on the needs of the project and may vary. This is a full-time permanent role with overtime required, especially during the summer months. A work rotation and out of town work may be required based on project requirements.

Physical Demands

This is moderately strenuous work. Mechanics frequently lift material up to 50 pounds. Machinery and tools require frequent and consistent exertion on arms, hands, and fingers. Frequent bending, crawling, and climbing is required.

Work Environment:

The work environment is typically indoors in a shop environment; however, mechanics are frequently outdoors to assess repairs, move fleet vehicles and/or driving out onto job sites, freeways, or roads with service truck for emergency truck repairs. Repairs may also need to be repaired on project sites and may be subject to the elements.
