Job Details
Excited to announce the position of Database Operations Engineer, reporting to our Manager of Database Operations. The Database Operations Engineer will develop and deploy data structures supporting operational and analytical databases. As a Database Operations Engineer, you will work closely with the Data Architect, to contribute to the design and implementation of data structures to facilitate the loading, transforming, and availability of data for analysis and product development. You will also support operational teams in maintaining and resolving data inconsistencies and compliance issues. You will be asked to lead, manage, assess and implement the structure, process and monitoring of our database systems. Providing feedback to all teams will be key to your team's continuous improvement. You will be required to learn, research, pilot and recommend new tools and technologies that can be leveraged to improve the way we work.
Position Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF), and SSIS
- Implement ETL processes to ensure efficient, timely and clean data flow and transformations
- Develop and deploy Azure Functions running python and C#
- Advise on, and implement best practices for monitoring, logging, and alerting
- Collaborate with DBAs, Data Architect, Developers to optimize SQL code and database structures
- Support the finance team with monthly billing activities
- Create, maintain, support, and deploy ETL packages for data source intake
- Review, automate and deploy schema changes
- Document data flows and models
- Implement testing to ensure data quality and integrity
- Coordinate with Data Governance to ensure compliance with data regulations
- Provide tier 3 support for ETL pipelines
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in data
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, SQL Developer or Database Engineer
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or SISS
- Strong proficiency in SQL (T-SQL)
- Proficient with Python, Pandas, NumPy, PySpark, Airflow, or C#
- Experience with CI/CD preferred (Azure DevOps)
- Experience with Azure and Application Insights
- Proficient in version control systems and managing repositories/branches
- Extensive experience working with SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Managed Instance (MI)
- Expert troubleshooting and investigation skills
- Knowledge of database design methodologies (3rd normal form, star schema, etc)
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and changing priorities
Training
