The Director, Fleet Operations and Maintenance, will lead a team of engineering and technical staff responsible for ensuring deliverables to customers and stakeholders meet the highest level of quality, safety, operability, maintainability and compliance.
This critical role will provide leadership and vision for the Operations, Major Maintenance, Emergency Response, Technical Compliance and Technical Training departments towards class-leading customer support, responsiveness to emergent operational needs, and ownership of the Alberta Reliability Standards program.
We're looking for someone with a broad range of knowledge in engineering, asset management, generation assets, quality assurance, the Alberta electricity market, and applicable market rules, regulations and standards.
Major Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, project managers, and technical team members, fostering growth, innovation, and alignment with ENMAX values.
- Lead the development, implementation, and validation of a fleet wide Operations program as well as a fleet wide Major Maintenance and Outage Execution program, both in alignment with the ENMAX Energy Asset Management Program, including policies, standards, and procedures.
- Lead the development, implementation, and execution of the ENAMX Energy Generation Emergency Response Program in alignment with the ENMAX Business Continuity standard.
- Ensure compliance with Alberta Reliability Standards, ISO Rules and other technical and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement reliability-based maintenance practices, predictive maintenance analysis, and performance benchmarking to optimize fleet maintenance practices and outage execution.
- Perform assessments to ensure quality, safety, and regulatory adherence in operations, and maintenance activities.
- Oversee key integrity programs, including Integrity Management, High Energy Piping, and Electrical Quality Management.
- Establish best practices and key performance indicators for engineering and asset management.
Education Required:
- Engineering Degree or Power Engineering Diploma/certification or Maintenance Management Professional certification
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 10 - 15 years of related work experience
- Power plant operations and maintenance management experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of asset management of generating assets
- Solid knowledge of ISO 55000 asset management framework
- Exceptional understanding of generation business fundamentals
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and negotiating skills are required
- Excellent change management competencies and project management skills
- Proven experience leading quality assurance programs
- Strong commercial, technical, economic, and market analytics skills
- Working knowledge of electricity trading operations, accounting principles, risk management, operations, commercial, legal and regulatory concepts

- Engaging presentation style combined with superior written and verbal communication skills and can interact and connect with a variety of audiences (office and plant professional staff)

- Be highly analytical and a strategic, and have the ability to translate and calibrate technical concepts and requirements into strategic business framework

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
