*This is classified as a hybrid role. The role does not require an employee to be on-site full-time, but the expectation is that the employee be on-site three (3) days a week at the Oshawa office of General Motors of Canada Company.*
The Business Planning & Strategy Manager - VSSM is a critical position within GM Canada that is responsible for coordinating projects and business plan activities for achieving short and long term business success. Reporting to the Vice President - Vehicle Sales, Service & Marketing, this position uses business acumen, marketing and research data, industry insights, sales and share performance data, and connections with VSSM US strategic initiatives, to work with the Leadership Team to improve and drive the VSSM business in Canada. This position also coordinates initiatives enabling employee engagement, communication and workplace of choice for VSSM Canada.
Key Deliverables and Responsibilities Include:
- Act as the liaison between the VP and stakeholders ensuring effective communication and collaboration to support VSSM-wide initiatives.
- Manage projects that support VSSM-wide initiatives, ensure traction of initiatives, track status and create report-outs.
- Identify business opportunities and work with the management team within VSSM on action plans to move the business forward.
- Indirectly report to the Director of Strategy and Business Planning to support and Coordinate annual business and budget planning cycle among brand teams, product strategy and portfolio planning, and sales operations.
- Provide VSSM Leadership with ongoing economic market trends, industry insights and transactional data analytics to drive the business forward.
- Responsible for ensuring that all VSSM business deliverables and projects are identified and accounted for in the business plan with responsibility and due dates; continuously monitor, ensure traction of initiatives, and track status.
- Lead marketing transformation operational engagement and planning for the Canadian market and liaise with the US marketing organization to ensure communication flow and alignment.
- Work closely with internal communications and retail marketing teams to develop a dealer communications strategy and material for the VP, VSSM and General Director of Sales.
- Develop and/or enhance scorecards and metrics to illustrate status and ownership.
- Lead coordination initiatives for the dealer and executive meetings, and assist in content planning and execution of VSSM and dealer events.
- Manage the full scope of VSSM Leadership meetings, from agenda development to meeting facilitation to follow-up on action items. .
- Prepare presentations for various levels of senior leadership and regular report-outs..
- Act as the focal point for VSSM-wide cultural and employee engagement activities and support our cultural development.
- Lead the coordination of VSSM Workplace of Choice initiatives including internal VSSM Leadership "Ask Me Anything" Sessions, Diagonal Slices and monthly newsletters.
- Develop relationships with US and global VSSM functions to learn and share best practices and stay connected to key strategic initiatives.
- Enhance safety culture through education and participation in the Safety Review Board
- Cultivate cross-brand customer experience focus across VSSM.
- Interact with VSM Finance to closely monitor and support the management of VSSM structural cost budgets.
- Assist with VSSM ILM and Business Continuity Planning.

Qualifications
- Expert-level PowerPoint, and Excel skills
- Prolific written & presentation communication skills
- Strategic Agility - the ability to take complex business challenges and articulate a clear and simple vision and strategy to achieve the task at hand
- Managerial courage and comfort in working with senior executives
- 5+ years experience. Experience within VSSM, Brand Marketing, and/or Dealer Contact Field Experience is an asset.
- Change management experience and ability to motivate others through influence
- Superior organization skills
- Self-starter and team player who is able to make
- Power BI & data analytics capabilities are an asset
- Project management experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
- Bilingualism (French) an asset
