The Role

Our Mitchell Plastics Kitchener facility is looking for a Buyer/Planner within our Logistics Department. The Buyer/Planner plays a critical part in our day-to-day procurement activity of all raw material and components, and is a key player in ensuring our production needs are met in a fast-paced, "just-in-time" environment. Cooperation with the other Buyers, Scheduling and Production, along with Customer Service, Process and Quality Teams is essential for this position. 

Duties & Responsibilities
 

  • The procurement of all raw material and components from assigned suppliers on behalf of the company, and the procurement of assigned MRO items, while strictly adhering to all Departmental and IATF 16949 Purchasing Procedures.
  • Processes Purchase Orders (POs), and provide direction and development to suppliers, and release of materials required for production needs.
  • Monitor and analyze vendor costs, lead times, and delivery performance.
  • Releases raw materials to/from vendors, and expedites required materials in order to support ongoing production.
  • Manages minimum and maximum inventory and order levels as set by management.
  • Conduct audits/cycle count(s) of all raw materials and purchased parts to ensure the accuracy and integrity of recorded information in PLEX.
  • Interfaces with Production Supervision, Customer Service, Scheduling, other Buyer's and Receiving to support production and to avoid line shortages or missed shipments to Customers.


Qualifications and Skills
 

  • 2-3 Years' Purchasing Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Strong Leadership, Communication (written & oral) & Organizational Skills
  • Strategic Planning & Negotiating Skills with Analytical Problem-Solving & Decision Making Abilities
  • Ability to rapidly respond to unforeseen developments and initiate actions to reduce negative impacts to production schedules.


Preference will be given to candidates with plastic injection moulding and/or automotive industry experience.
